As the Dust settled and the PodPolkovnic Alexei recieved new order to push onto Amsterdam. The BAOR was forced to withdraw from his sector and thus the road was known to be open to the capital of the kingdom of the netherlands. It still struck Alexei as an Alien concept and one that his country had accepted just a few decades ago under the Tsars.
With little to no standing army, the advance was likely to be a victory parade with free and open referendums to follow soon after.
Just as Alexei was wondering which of his fatigues were still parade worthy, a blair over the radio was heard as a milan hit a front line BRDM scout. all crew KIA.
Alexei knew all the British units had withdrawn, so it must be the remnants of the German army. Out of their homeland but determined to fight on against the Russians. Alexei was sure these were from a never used tactical reserve unit that the Germans were so fond of. Had they been deployed, they wouldn't be here. Constant reports of West Germans who held their ground long after the rest of NATO forces had withdrawn were commonplace over the last few weeks as Germany had been consumed by the iron curtain.
Alexei started giving orders out, the Acasias were to move forward to provide close fire support. The battle was about to begin.
With BMP Recce, i moved the teams forward to hold thetall grass. T-64s held back in the woods near the Electrical transformer plant.
Acasias were in the back behind the hill with krasnapols ready to strike those milan positions. Behind the blue factory building was filgerfausts ready for air strikes that would never come. Alexei had not requested for air since the disaster in the fulda gap.
With the West objective cleared, Alexei ordered a general charge of the infantry company. BMPS to provide close support. BMPs scouts started to move around the line.
The third and final turn see my other t-64s holding the right flank swing around and fire on the leopards, 3 of the BMPS on the left flank moved into position last turn and fire downrange. A total of 3 BMPs, 2 T-64s of the original 4 that fought the duel, and lastly the 3 additional T-64s who came in from the flank. We managed to bail 2 of them (1 through a failed firepower check and the other through a borderline save). It would have been three but he managed to mistaken target pretty well onto already bailed tanks and pass the remount checks.
Afther the shooting, the famous courage of the West germans failed and he ran away.
The West Germans at this point decide that with their infantry in tatters, their leopards off the field of spiked, gepards on the verge of destruction, the West German commander cedes the field to the Soviet onslaught.
Game ends as a victory to the Warsaw Pact. Alexei continues his drive onto Amsterdam.
Great battlefield with just the right mix of terrain and open fields of fire (I see way too much urban combat in most reports for WWIII). Love the power station and towers. Were you listening to old 80s “Kraftwerk” in the background!
Congrats on the win mate 🙂

That Tank duel did not go the way the numbers suggest it would have, so well done for that one.
