Leutnant Kessler had made a "tactical" retreat. He had found the two fleeing T-72M's and together they had discussed on how to return to the front. They knew that returning to friendly lines without a good reason for failing in their assigned mission and surviving, could cost them their lives. As faith would have it, they stumbled upon a Leopard 2 unit getting some R&R. The Machine gun fire had quickly dealt with their crews. Emptying their own vehicles they took control of the Leopards and began their march towards the West Germans lines in an attempt to bring back some heroism.

Kessler returned to where he had failed in his mission and looked for the Leopard 1's. He didn't expect them to be around. But as faith would have it, someone else was...
Around the corner a group of T-72M arrived. He recognized them. That was the forward scouting unit from Kommendant Baron. He smiled thinking that he could present these captured beasts for him as a proof of a successfull mission. Suddenly an explosion rang out in the forest and the furthest Leoparrd 2's took a hit, damaging their engine, followed by all of them getting hits. It dawned on him that to them he was the enemy. They didn't know, and he had no way of telling them. He made a quick decision and choose to return fire and make the best of it.
Kessler had ordered the destruction of two fellow tank commanders. This only seemed to have heighted their anger as in their response they kept closing the distance with their vicious T-72M's They appeared as wolves in a pack attempting to encricle their prey. Several shells struck the vehicles to his right and two massive loud bangs occured as one slew the turret of the closest Leopard and the other detonated in an inferno, most likely from igniting the ammo storage. He had no way of telling them it was him. And he knew raising a flag was pointless after he had killed some of his own. They would never trust him. He had to gamble.
Kommendants Barons tanks bear down on the Leopard 2's
He ordered the driver to get him out of the woods and into the city where maybe they could survive a little longer. He took shelter against a building and found a T-72M turning its turret to face him. He pressed the firing stud and the tank went up in flames. He wasn't cheering. He kept telling himself he had to shoot. There was no other option. He vaguely heard the driver and the gunner yelling for him as his mind subdued him to what he was doing.
Leutnant Kessler struggeling with his decision.
The shells impacted around the tank but Leutnant Kessler was not paying any attention. One hit had sent him to the side slamming and cracking his lip against cold metal and he could taste blood. The driver was dead and the gunner unresponsive. He looked out through the cupola slits and saw the sleek shapes of the T-72M's dart from cover to cover. Wherever he looked he saw barrels. In slowmotion he saw the flame and warping of metal as his command tank exploded. His last thought was that of the irony that he returned to the battlefield looking for heroism, only to die from what he had tried to cheat before.

Conclusion / After action report

Hello everyone!
Now before you all go rampaging zealously, hear us out!
So here's what happend. I don't have a West German army and my friend doesn't have a Warsaw Pact army. So we gave it a shoot at changing armies for once. The player that won would get the points for their side. He felt how it was to be restricted to 25 cm and having one shoot and having to roll 5+ to hit. I was the other way, I felt powerfull having 3+ to hit and front armour of 18. I never got to really experience it, I rolled 1's and 2's for saves so they quickly got destroyed and I felt the sting as I lost two in one round. It was quite different having to play the West German army.

If you want to see my mates battle report, go over and have a look! Its linked :)
And remember there is a third part left!

Overall we had alot of fun in this game! :)

Will Kommendant Baron make it to Hannover in time before the forces of NATO pushes through that sector?
Find out tomorrow!
