Mission: Quick Mission - Bypass - 55 pts
Initially my plan was to play in the Hannover sector today with Tomas, but alas, I was to be given a new section to invade instead after NATO's new front opening up. So I asked if he was okey changing it for Leipzig and he agreed.
So this is what I was afraid of all along.
I will personally put all my efforts into regaining Leipzig and every game, if my opponent is willing, will be played towards this end!
Leipzig will be liberated by the Kommendant!
Yellow star = Destroyed
Red star, yellow border = Bailed Out
Brown star, yellow border = Bogged Down
Kommendant Baron slammed his fists down onto the table and sent his coffe mug flying of the table along with some other documents as he continued reading the transcript he had just recieved.
He had been a fool to believe that the Soviets would even consider thinking that the NATO forces would have enough forces to open up a new front. What made things worse was that it had opened up into Leipzig where he was preparing his forces, he was ready but also worried. His country was now under attack. Not the Warsaw Pact, but his part of Germany. The Germany where his family lived and the family of many other soldiers within the army. This was not good at all for morale.
He grabbed the piece of paper and tore it up in an act of anger as he continued cursing in german and russian alike over what he had just read. He had warned the Soviets of a possible attack. That they needed to secure the fronts and not continue to push forward. Had anyone listen to what he had suggested? No. No one at all. Everyone wanted to quickly grab as much as possible, with no regard for the defence or the logistics required behind it.
Operation: Gelbe Star, the codename for taking Hannover was put on hold. Kommendant Baron had ordered for all Volksarmee forces in the region to abbandon their assignments with the Soviets and leave them to deal with their own business as they saw fit.
Their home had just been attacked and they would respond in kind.
He brought up his sidedarm and placed it on the table while ejecting the clip. He began sliding bullets into the clips slowly, while thinking of a possible tactical move.
He placed the clip back into the magslide of the pistol and thought to himself - If the War didn't kill the Soviets for this misstake, he may have too.
He slammed the clip back into place with a hard snap wondering if he had enough bullets to win this war...
To his surprise the top hatch of the nearest Leopard tank opened up and a man began moving out. He ordered the T-72M's to halt and hold fire. Both tanks came to a halt observing the enemy.
The other hatch now opened and out came the crew members from both tanks standing infront of their tanks.
Kommendant Baron opened his own hatch and left his tank, knowing that the machine gunners would have their infantry gunned down if anything went wrong. He rested his right hand reasuringly on his holster as he approached the enemy.

The enemy had been captured and handed over to Command for debrief. They had given up because their ammunition had run out. Before they had engaged his unit, they had a run in with the Soviets and already spent alot of their reserves already. Meaning they where hoping for a quick victory.
He didn't believe in luck, but this time he didn't have a good explination for his...luck.
Mechanized Mot-Schützen troops passed him and began setting up defensive positions expecting a counter attack from the enemy. He had ordered, with the blessing from High Command, to set up defensive strongpoints. It would require more manpower from the fighting units. But it would enable them to defend much stronger if one section was overrun.
A few other Volksarmee Commanders had engaged the enemy. Some where successfull, others not so much. He had sent requests for massive amount of reserves, of which he had been granted. Massive battle where to come in the near future against the Americans. This was his country. This wasn't gonna be like the wars of old where the Americans came in saving the day.
He would show them their error in even attempting this attack.
This game was very intense, since I was kinda hoping to be able to destroy his Leopard 2s. However, he showed time and time again how resilient these tanks could be as I rarely managed to penetrate. And the few times I did get through I only bailed them and they remounted the next turn.
Tomas is a new opponent whom I never had the pleasure of playing against, he runs a club in the city and I asked to swing by and have a game and told him about the Firestorm Campaign. He will hopefully sign up shortly :)
The game ended in a 6:1 to Volksarmee (Warsaw Pact) since I exited with 3 units as per the mission criteria.
I was hoping for a tank against tank win, but since that suddenly started changing I had to adapt and leave the table going on objectives.
Excellent painted T-72! Finally something other than the usual green!
Leipzig is ours!
Thanks everyone for your comments 🙂 I hope we can retake Leipzig!
Great report. This is the kind of the report I’m going for when time allows.
Grats on the win, push them back!
Love your graphics
Leo 2s just cannot catch a break! Good win and great report again.

Baron
Nice job as always!
Another great report – hopefully we can flip back Leipzig by the end of the weekend! 😀
well played, Baron. Not badly done on the Bundeswehr side either
Hello!
If the mission had been Annhilation things would’ve been different. Since I needed to destroy every last enemy. And he still had 2 tanks and I had 2 tanks.
But I lost 14/16 tanks. The game ended on mission objective.
Having only leopard 2 as the west German is very limiting. Congrats on the win, Leo 2 are tough. But was always a hard battle for the West German, with that force composition
awesome…..needs more carnage!!!!!!!! great win
A glorious victory for the forces of Socialism.
An excellent report as per usual, Baron.
Awesome report Comrade Baron! Congrats on the win and beginning the glorious battle to kick the Yankees out of East Germany.
