Today, our forces located and engaged British forces scouting a route towards Leipzig. Around 5 a.m. our forward forces heard the unmistakable sound of British Chieftain and scout vehicle engines. Our commander sent about half our force on a flank march to cut off their way of retreat and took the rest of the force to take them head on just north of the town.

The first 3 turns were rather uneventful. British pushed through the center towards the Soviets occupying the hill along the highway, while being lucky enough to get reserves each turn from the get-go. No real shooting happened as the Brits apparently had forgotten how to use their night-fighting gear and the Soviets seeing no reason to give away their positions.
The next few turns see the arrival of even more British reinforcements and some more Soviet units. Turn 5 also see the arrival of daylight, which promptly confuses the Soviet infantry occupying both objectives. Apparently they think that the tanks in front of them are T-72s having broken through the British forces. A lot of British shooting sees 6 hits, of which 5 are failed and sees most infantry teams dead or bleeding out, and when the gunfire dies down the unit commander is all alone and decides he's had enough. In the mean time the real T-72s have taken a Chieftain unit out, but have taken severe casualties in return.
After the infantry have quit the field it's an uphill battle for the Soviets, with the British forces dominating the hill with Chieftains, Strikers and infantry closing in from 2 sides. Our tanks valiantly try to contain the Brits, but there are simply too many for our boys to kill before they are taken out. The recon unit pushing for the British deployment zone force 2 unit morale checks on the Scorpions, but while they are more holes than armour remaining, they do not give up and take down the recon and thus securing a win for the British forces.
Nabeshin, nah, not really. But it all went downhill from the moment we started.. 😉
Hehe, that “up hill battle”wouldn’t have anything to do with the terrain now would it? Decent formatting and a nice looking board.
Tovarishch, worst part was, the Brits were attacking me! 🙁
nice report
Ouch – tough loss… 🙁
Ooh – been there, feel your pain! Attacking dug-in British at night is no fun.
