Firestorm: Red Thunder

Soviet recon forces report a small village in Niederbayern nearly undefended, the ridgeline to the west of the village held by a Panzergrenadier unit, a troop of Leopards taking 5 on the village square and a few well camouflaged Gepards between the 2, so command has tasked us with taking this village and the throughroad so we can push on towards Munich. Our commander takes the big platoon straight towards the village center, while the smaller unit goes through a wooded area to get in their side and our infantry cover our right flank and pinning their infantry down at the same time. All goes well, we catch the Leopards unawares and they start taking casualties quickly, while the infantry advance on the ridgeline. The German infantry lose their rides in the opening minutes and the Leopard crew take cover due to our weight of fire, but then! Our flanking tank unit is taken out by a Leopard platoon overlooked by our recon, and Jerry gets some well timed reserves to stem our advance into the village. After taking heavy losses it has been decided that we're going to take a step back under cover of the air support wing and surround/bypass the village when the rest of the battalion shows up. This Hasty Attack ends up being a bridge too far, but Jerry has lost a big number of tanks in this area, and their infantry have been worn out.
