It was a cold wet day with the sun barely throwing enough light on the battlefield to see. A multi-national force had been scraped together to contain an overwhelming Soviet breakthrough. British and American forces joined together with a small West German contingent racing to the area as a final defensive line. A small German town lay directly in the path of the invading Soviets (and East Germans)
Townley's Boys sat astride the road, preparing to reinforce either flank as required. The attached Cobras pushed up to give the British allies some support whilst the Mech Platoon sat on front of another US Combat Team to give them advance warning of the incoming Soviets.
The Soviets pushed hard moving up the battlefield. The Mech platoon was quickly pinned down by incoming artillery and direct fire but managed to destroy a number of specialist vehicles with Dragon fire before repulsing an assault from a Soviet infantry company. Unfortunately the savagery of the fight left them combat ineffective and they were forced to withdraw.
The Soviet tank fire proved to be very effective on the southern flank and the American M1s serving as the first line of defence were quickly overwhelmed whilst the British Chieftains were having more luck (and better fields of fire) so held up the Soviets. Bannon pushed his M1s into the fray to reinforce the surviving tanks in time for 2 flights of Hinds to turn up. Defensive fire from the VADS took a heavy toll on the incoming choppers.
With their air support erased from the skies and their tanks bogged down moving through a series of small farms and buildings the Soviets retreated leaving the Allies to count their dead and fall back in good order.
Like those pylons. Great table.
There is some wierd some stuff happening with the image linking – have emailed the Beasts Of War guys.

Nice looking tables – looks like a fun game… pity about the outcome! 😉
Dont worry, I’ve poked Casey about getting his report up along with his army list.
Great looking table and Congrats on the win! Just needs Army lists cause must have been a BIG game with that many units.
Cheers,
