*56 is an odd number but it is optimal. It allows the US to take 7 tanks and the Soviets 13x T-72. One point less and the US has to take 6 tanks and lose 7 points in a MBT only battle.

Trying to break through at Frankfurt the Soviets attempt to bypass the US forces.

Gandri is back and we decided to do quick missions with MBT's only like we had done with Frym3n. We rolled for the mission and got Bypass. The Soviets rolled to be the attacker.

THE BATTLE

Russians advance, since they have no targets they go for dash movement bringing them close to one of their objectives.

US forces maneuver to meet the threat. Their initial fire destroys one T-72 and bails another. The US tanks did score more hits but the front armour of the T-72 saved them from taking damage.

The soviets did heavy damage to the forward M1 Abrams platoon.

Having almost lost half their force, the US are determined to hold fast. Tanks from the 2nd Abrams platoon only manage to destroy one T-72 and bail another. But the sole remaining tank from 1st platoon bails two T-72. With one T-72 burning and three bailed the platoon must pass motivation and is joined by the Formation Commander. Now all that is needed is a 2+ roll.

The Soviets now have two companies, one with 2 tanks and one with 4. Their fire is ineffective and one platoon leaves in good spirits according to the mission rules. The remaining platoon now must weather one turn of US fire to win.

The US manage to bring all 4 remaining tanks into a firing position. And once the shooting is over three T-72's are burning and the last one is bailed.

Only one Soviet formation made it off the board in good spirits, giving Gandri his first win!
