It was a cold and rainy night, just a few hours till sunrise.
Yuri slung his assault rifle over his shoulder and tried to warm up his hands with his breath. "Damn cold night comrades." He nodded to one of his officers who passed him a cup with some hot drink. Using the hot cup to warm his hands while tasting it, horrible as expected but at least something to warm him up.
Its been 15 hours since they recieved their order to secure the perimeter near a industrial complex in the outskirts of Leipzig. His men are hungry, tired and bored. No perfect battle conditions but they are the only ones available to hold and secure until the tanks arrive.
"We should had stay in our goddamn BMPs sir!" Nikolay, Yuris second in command, a grumpy old soldier but one of the best under his command. There is always something to complain. "Were are those bastards anyway?" "They cover our backs Nikolay, something we enjoyed ever since we got these new things."
Roaring of engines in the distance interupted the chat of the soldiers. "They are here. Ok boys get ready to fight. Hold your fire, they dont have to spot us right awsy!"

Forces and Scenario

The brits:

HQ Cieftain with stillbrew
2x Chieftain
2x Chieftain
Mech platoon
4 Scimitar
4 Scorpion
2 Swingfire

The soviets:

HQ T64
3 T64
3 T64
Medium BMP2 mech platoon

We played Dust Up at Leipzig. The brits rollt dawn at the table so the game started in the dark.

Soviet reserves (tanks) and ambush (BMPs)
Soviet motor rifles securing their perimeter
British spearhed units deployed
British mech platoon securing the mission objectives

Turn 1

first turn went of quiet. Just moving under the cover of darkness

The turn for the british started by recieving two Chieftains out of reserve. The Scorpions and Scimitars moved to a treeline in the enemy deployement zone. Seeing the british recon units advancing yuri ordered his men to move towards the small tanks. Holding fire until the time was right.

Turn 2

Ambush!

Recieving two more Chieftains the british tanks moved towards the mission objective firing, together with the Scorpions and Scimitars, killing five infantry teams.
"Vlad! I need immediate fire support! Multiple enemy tynk teams firing at our position. We taking multiple casualties!"
A few minutes after the fire request Yuris BMP2 attachment unleashed a hellfire onto the two small recon units. Leaving just one Scorpion behind.

Turn 3

Finally 2 british units down

The last of the reserves of the british force showed up adding the Chieftain HQ and a Swingfire troop to the force. Closing in with the infantry the tanks opened fire on Infantry and BMPs destroying a few teams.
The soviet T64 platton arriving from reserves approached a small group of woods to get a good firing position next round.
"Comrades! Get this nasty little tank bejöhindvthat treeline. I want to get rid of these tanks!" With the sun rising behind their backs the russians fired their missiles at the Scorpion tanks vanishing the platoon.
"Comrades, I think Ive spotted the enemy commander. Single Chieftain with pretty flags..." The BMP commandercalling in via radio. "Open fire. See if we can break their fighting spirit."
The BMP2 group fired 3 ATGMs at the spotted position.
The missiles, screaming and leaving a smoke trail behind, quickly approached the tank. Two of them hitting obstacles but the last one nearly cuts the Tank in half.
"Tank down comrades! Lets see how they will fight now."

Turn 4

Knife fight!

The Chieftains moved towards the T64 tanks and opened fire. Due to gheir impulsive maneuvers they just got one T64 bailed. On the other end one Swingfire failed to drive into the woods while the other missed its target. Only the second Chieftain troop scored kills withon the BMPs.
Returning fire the BMPs bailed one Chieftain which lead to the platoon leaving the battle. Surprised by the appearance of the british MBTs both T64 in return managed to hit nothing. Even the arriving reserves struggle in a small forest.

Turn 5

I forgot to take a picture so here you got a tank

Having all what remains in the fight the brits now seem to had to turn the tide quickly. The Chieftains troop destroyed two T64, but both the operating tank crew and the nearby infantry know that that was not enough. Even the Swingfire dont manage to hit a tank.
Firing from all positions and now joined by their Commander the T64 drove the Chiefs away. On the right flank the BMP2 advance towards the position of the Swingfire, which vanished in a hail of high caliber bullets.

Last turn

No remaining tanks on british side, advance!

With no enemy fire hitting own positions the soviets could now advance. They manage to take out the last Swingfire leaving the brits with only one mechnised platoon.
Both forces reinforced their positions from here. Both of them unable to seize the objectives. The british army had to take a harsh beating that time. Leaving the rest of the force to regroup. With no lost unit the soviet could have won that game but were not fast enough to engage enemy infantry.

Victory points 3:1 for soviets.
