Firestorm: Red Thunder

Another fast and furious lunchtime battle saw my Soviet forces go up against Steve's West Germans. (STEVE: apologies for only the one painted Leo - not had time yet to finish them and can't show unpainted models; it's against the laws of space and time!)

We played a quick game where my T-72's started in a refuelling dump, protected by two HIND helicopters. The plan was to protect the fuel from the West Germans for four turns. If there were any West Germans within 6 inches of the factory with the flat roof at the end of turn 4, they would have won.

It seemed like such an easy task to accomplish for the Soviets with their numerical superiority but it all went to pot from the very first dice roll.

Bombardment from Steve's LARS batteries took out several tanks straight away, while my shots all went wide of the mark. Then the first HIND was plucked from the sky with AA fire, causing it to crash into the fuel tanks I was supposed to be protecting.

The other HIND tried to take out the HQ Leo but as you can see the shots just plowed up the road as opposed to destroying the damn tank.

Turn 4 came all too fast and there were a couple of LEO's close by, meaning I had failed.
