Trying to support the Push on Leipzig, a Mechanized Formation of the US Army had been tasked with establishing a Bridgehead an hold against the inevitable Soviet Counterattack.

The Counterattack was expected to occur from the North an to be led by an T-72 Company, but unfortunately was led by a T-64 Tank Formation (cleverly disguised to more closely resemble T-72s).

Aerial View of the Battlefield from the Soviet Site, at the Start of the WP Counterattack

The Warsaw Pact forces cautiously advanced on the western and eastern flank of the Battlefield, while taking potshots at the Defender and unleashing a Barrage from their Hail Artillery System on the Dug-In Us Infantry.

Losses on the Us Side were light at first, only losing a Dragon Team to the Artillery Strike and two M113s on the eastern Flank who had inadequate cover against the advancing Tanks.

The Us Forces Responded by unleashing a M1 Abrams Platoon from Ambush and advancing aggressively with the Abrams in middle, and the M113 on the eastern and western Flanks. The M113 on the east managed to Destroy a Scout BMP, while the M113 and the US Infantry on the western front disabled all of the BMP1 Transports of the Soviet Infantry. Furthermore the Dragon Teams managed to Down two of the Enemy Hinds.

The Abrams however only succeeded in Destroying two unarmored Hail Artillery Systems and a single T-64 Tank, and were now badly out of Position ...

Soviet T-64 capitalize on the the Abrams bad Positioning by destroying them with flank shots

The US receives reinforcements from the reserves, a flight of Hunter Killer Helicopters soar over the Battlefield. Before turning their attention to the Tanks the flight leader decides to take out the enemy Gopher AA-System first. Surprisingly they manage to destroy two of the Gophers and bailing a third while only losing a single chopper.

Meanwhile the M113 and Infantry on the Western Flank successfully decimate the advancing Soviet Infantry and the Central Infantry Platoon manages to take out the last two Scout BMPs. Unfortunately the Dragons prove to be completely ineffective against the modern Armor of the T-64.

Soviets continue to advance on the eastern flank and destroy the three VADS guarding the objective.

With the soviets close to the Objective the Us Commander rushes the remaining VADS to the Objective, to contest it a while longer, while the newly arrived ITVS try to Blitz into Position for Shots at the T-64, and fail to destroy even one. The Central Infantry is pinned by a lucky Hit from the remaining Hail, and so can't reinforce the Objective.

The Cobras, seemingly unaware of the unfolding Tragedy at Objective two, finish off the remaining Gophers. And the Western M113 take out the remaining Soviet Infantry.

Soviet crush the final Resistance at Objective Two. US Army forced to withdraw.

The Bridgehead has failed and the Soviet Forces win the Day.
