Finally charlies company is on the attack after holding the line so long. Orders are to seize a village on the flank of the main attack and prevent any counterattack from cutting off the main effort.

with the scouts finally back with the company we moved into position securing the town and bracing for the counter attack. First and second platoons dug in to cover the main roads in the area supported by a scout section. Bannon's tanks still short one tank were held back as a reserve with the other scout team and the cobra gunships that were on call.

It did not take long before the expected counter attack showed up, turns out the intelligence boys got it wrong it was not a crack Russian tank force but a east German tank detachment. Apparently they were very intent on removing us as they sent both a t-72 battalion and a t-55 battalion.

Our initially volley was right on target with first platoon nailing two t-72 tanks in spectacular fashion. We received some shelling from their artillery in return but it had no effect. at this time a second company of t-72 made a hard push on our left supported by light scout cars trying to push us off the cross roads though they poured a lot of fire into first platoon they failed to do much damage.

I called in Bannon and his tanks to swing around and hit the Kraut artillery while the cobras came in and hit the t-72 at the cross roads. First platoon's track roared out of the woods to engage the BRDM cars killing one adding to the t-72 the cobras tow's killed.

Then disaster struck some fouled up radio call went out over the company net saying the unit was out of position and to move out at once. I could not believe such an order as we were in good positions and inflicting heavy damage on the enemy but an order is an order so we pulled back giving the East Germans control of the area. I think some how our communications were compromised and it was some sort of Warsaw pact trickery, come on even our higher echelons cant be that stupid . . . can they?
