Firestorm: Red Thunder

Knowing that I have the advantage in numbers, I put the objectives as far apart as possible on the table, forcing my opponent to split his forces, or spread them evenly and very thinly across his entire table edge. My plan was to then to put pressure on both, but commit the majority of my forces to splitting him in half and pouring onto one of them.

East German Turn 1:

Guided missiles from my BMP-1 transports destroyed a scout platoon in the middle of the table. Fire from a T-72M destroyed an Abrams tank, causing the other tank in the unit to flee, while a second unit of T-72Ms destroyed another Abrams tank.

US Turn 1:

The rear VADS team opened fire on my infantry in the open, destroying my AGS-17 and 2 MPi KM teams. Fire from Abrams tanks destroyed 1 T-55, 2 Spandrels, and 1 T-72M, and left another T-72M bailed out. Fire from ITVs destroyed another T-72M and the third Spandrel in the unit.

East German Turn 2:

My T-55s return fire towards my right flank, destroying 1 of 2 ITVs. Fire from T-72Ms leave 1 Abrams burning in the middle and 1 on the left flank. Spandrel missiles from my BMP-2 transports take out the third Abrams tank in the middle.

US Turn 2:

The enemy tanks seek revenge, and destroy 3 BMP-1 transports and bail out a 4th, along with a T-72M. An ITV bails out a BMP-1, leaving only 1 operational transport, but they hold their ground.

East German Turn 3:

Rapid fire from my T-55s destroy 2 VADS. RPG fire from my infantry destroys 1 M113 and bails the ITV it is paired with. T-72Ms destroy the Abrams Formation HQ. BMP-1 fire claims the remaining ITV on the right flank, while BMP-2 fire destroys a Cobra, after my Gremlins, Gaskins, and Gophers fail to get the job done. The remaining VADS drop a Hind to the ground, but 3 let loose on the Abrams tanks on the right flank, destroying 1. My infantry assaults the bailed out ITV and captures it without a fight.

With only 2 VADS and 2 Abrams left on the board with no HQ, my opponent withdraws the remaining teams from the battlefield.
