Firestorm: Red Thunder

Hello,
yesterday night i had a quick 100 points game versus General Rixl. I played Volksarmee against his US troops. I went for many MSU units. It was the second try if some of my oppents is able to hold the line against my mass. For us it seems that MSU needs a repointing soon.

So i had 25 T72M, 9 T55 and 9 BMP2 with some support. We played Bridgehead.

My oppenent placed the M1 in ambush and send the Vulcans, the ITVs and the A10 to reserve. So i had to face a loot of infantry with their transports and with three M1 somewhere hidden.

On the right side was a little river. Due to the fact that there where two minefield markers before the bridge, i decided to put my main attack in the center. No big maneuvers, instead the hammer right down in the middle. I hoped that there are more then enough tanks to overwhelm my enemy. Further benefit would be that i would move some tanks under the minimum range of some Dragons.

The BMP2 remained stationary and opend the fire, also the advancing T2M did. I scored some hits on the 6. The brutal gun of the T72 killed 2-3 Dragons, really a good result. Also i was able to kill two M113.
Now my oppenent had his first turn. He placed his three M1 in center with a hill on one side. The M113 made a break out and started to fire on my small infantry. His artillery droped bomblets on my bigger infantry unit with every team under the template. He scored about 8 hits, but i passed all tests.

I pushed forward in my second turn. One T72 unit on my right flank saw two M109. One formation commander reached the table edge and would be able to flank the M1 next round. I opened fire on the infantry and the M1. The Dragons fired last turn, so i needed 5s to hit. The M1 were concealt, so i needed also 5s. I scored several hits- all on the infantry and none on the M1. The infantry was futher weakend and my plan was to assault next turn. I also killed one M109 and bailed one more. General Rixl had no luck and the artillery ran away.

General Rixl moved the M1 on the other side of the hill and advanced further with his M113. Now he killed some tanks- Some T55 with dragons. The M1 killed on T72 and bailed two more. The M113 killed my small infantry.

I started to fire on the M1 and killed two. Further infantry teams were killed. I was not finished, but the position of General Rixl was really weak. I had a good amount of shots left and had severals assaults in position. With the M1 nearly dead and most of my teams close to his teams, so that he would be in trouble with minimum distance and aircraft saftey distance, he called the game. I didn´t lost much and it would be a slaughfest with his remaining teams. With MSU i have such a mass that the Americans have big trouble. We have to wait how this change with Stripes and the M60.

So i lost two units. But as i had 14 units, it´s a 5:2.
