Aug 5
As the BND-officer received the message from his agent in East Germany, he yelled at one of the other officers to send a message to the 2:nd armoured brigade.
The message said:” East German Battalion on the move towards Nürnberg, trying to flank the US 7:th.”

As the briefing was done, Hauptman Pelikanen got the orders to take his company to the north to try and do a counterattack on the East German force. To his help he also had the remains of Hauptman Scherbergs Leo 1 company, and another Leo 2 platoon that had lost its mother company.

Aug 6
Hauptman Pelikan and his company drives thru one of the villages outside of Nürnberg, they have heard that the East German force should be nearby. When all of a sudden his radio starts to scream. Two of his platoon leaders reports that they are taking fire and report that they have lost one tank each and that they are returning fire. Hauptman Pelikanen orders all his platoon to move forward and return fire.
He orders the first platoon, they are just to his right, to follow him and move into the field to try to get some cover. As he comes to the field, he gets a personal view of the battlefield, and sees that there is a enormous hoard of T72M:s. He got reports from Hauptman Scherberg that h0e had lost one platoon and the other and himself was killing of a platoon of T-55:s. All of the platoon leaders report that they are scoring kills. He thought to himself that this would be a bloody day, and prayed to god that they would survive the East German hoard. At this point he felt the rumble of the tank shooting and seeing a couple of nearby T72:s explode, but to late he saw a small group of them rushing to his right flank. He yelled to the first platoon to watch out for them, but it was to late, two of them erupted into flames as the East German flanked them and shot at them. He ordered the last tank to follow him into a retreat to try to take out that small group of T72:S.
Leutnant Erhardt, leader of fourth platoon, saw that the Hauptman rushed forward and ordered his platoon to do the same, towards the same field as the hauptman. But on the way they had to cross a big car pile. He decided to go right through it to try to save some time before something happened to first platoon and the hauptman. As they had precisely crossed the car pile they saw a big group of T72:s showing their flank to them, so he ordered a halt and to start fire at the T72:s. The first volley almost killed of them, and before the East Germans could react they fired their second volley and killed the rest of them.
Hauptman Pelikanen sees that on the other side of the field there is some big explosions, and only hopes that it is some T72:s blowing up. Right after he gets from fourth platoon that they have killed of a big bunch of T72:S, and he sighs in relief. But after that he gets distress calls from both Hauptman Scherberg and his last platoon that they are being overrun, and that they are trying to kill as many as they can, but that their shots are just bouncing on the T72:s. He also hears from his third platoon that they need to fall back due to heavy losses. He thinks to himself, at least we have this flank for the moment. He orders the remains of the first platoon and fourth platoon to move towards the middle of the battlefield to help his second and fifth platoon, and even try to reach Hauptman Scherberg before it is to late. As they move towards the middle, they see a sea of T72:s moving towards them. He can see that fourth and fifth platoon has taken casualties and are backing away from the enemy while firing as fast as they can, taking almost one enemy with every shot. He sees the fourth taking up positions near a forest and shooting at something he can not see. But in the next second he sees a group of T72:S coming out of the forest towards the fourth platoon and killing them outright in the side. He orders him and the platoon leader of first platoon to take cover and start suppressing fire to try to get the remains of second and fifth platoon into safety. They start to fire as fast as they can and, praise god, killing with almost with every shot. The four last tanks, try to regroup , but the last of second and fifth platoon gets unlucky hits on them and are destroyed.
At this moment, he feels like the battle are lost, and that they are getting every thing thrown at them. He tries to see how many of them there is left out there. He gets it to 6 in front of him. The tank shakes violently as they get a hit in the side. The side he thinks, he and his gunner have been to focused to the front that they forgot about the flank. He swings around in cupola and sees a lone T72 rushing towards him. He yells at the gunner to swing the turret and kill that single T72 before it does it to them. After a few painful seconds he sees the T72 go up in flames. He now takes the decision to do a full retreat with all remaining forces, so he says in to radio ”All tanks, fall back to regroup”. His driver starts backing away, as he sees the last of the first platoon go up in flames as well. He scans the field to try to estimate losses and remaining forces before, and if, they leave the battlefield. The driver goes behind the forest right next to them and drives away. Hopefully to fight another day.

Me and my friend decided we wanted to a fun tank battle, so we looked at what we could get. It ended with 200 points of tanks on each side. It was fun to see. We played no particular mission, just go about and kill stuff. The first to break is the loser.

We rolled to see who gets the first turn, unfortunately he got the first turn.

The battle was lost when my commander decided that it was time to do a ”tactical retreat” due to being the only tank for the WE left on the field. But due to so much losses on the EG side, he had 5 tanks left. We decided that it was a draw.

It was a really fun game, fairly quick as well, but we both felt that it was exhausting.

East German deployment
West German deployment
My losses after first turn
The losses after second turn (1)
The losses after second turn (2)
Think this is the fourth turn, lots and lots of tanks burning :D
After the battle, burning tanks everywhere... and a few still left, but not many

Very nice battle report friend 🙂
It was interesting to see your point of view from your Commander!
I hope you and me both can do something like this again with maybe a more customized Scenario!
    Till next time, friend!

Wow, that’s a busy looking board! I think breaking up the wall of text with pictures might be a good idea in future.
