As the West Germans attempted to regain control over several military objects abandoned earlier during the campaign, they met aggressive Soviet motor rifles trying to take control over the same territory!
Mission: Free for All. Two objectives are placed on each side. The Soviets attack from the right side, the West Germans hide behind the natural obstacles on the left side hoping to survive the communists’ first strike.
The FRG force includes the veterans of the last game and three brand new Leo-2s. The Soviet motor rifles are supported by tanks, artillery, AA and helicopters.
First Turn. BMP-2s rush into the forest, most of them getting stuck on the edge of it. The Soviet tanks go around the Forest the capitalists were hiding behind of and destroy one of the West German’s panzers. That seems to be the end of the Soviet activity for now. The FRG strikes back. The Leo-1s get to a good position to shoot at the unprotected BMP-2s stuck on the edge of the forest. Three hits and all the FP tests failed on a roll of 1! Schade. But the other platoon of Leo-1s destroys quite all of the BMP-1s from a position on the hill.
The Leo-2s get to the end of the forest to be safe from the BMP fire from the right and still having a good aim on the Soviet tanks to make them pay for the Leo-2 destroyed earlier in the game.
Tornado attack the same tanks. As a result, two tanks are destroyed, another two are bailed. Not a bad one!
Second Turn. Soviet crews get back into their tanks and, supported by Mi-24 helicopters, finish off the Leo-2s. BMPs at the other side of the table annihilate a Leo-1 platoon. The West Germans got a platoon of Leo-1s and the company commander left.
Calculating their chances for victory, West German crews make the last deciding strike. They dash towards the far away Soviet objective which is held by just a pair of communist tanks.The only hope for the Germans are Tornadoes. And they do their job! Now the Wessies need to survive the return fire from the whole Soviet army.
All the guns they had the Soviets use to destroy the pesky panzers. Even artillery got one Leo-1 destroyed after a volley of direct fire. The BMPs bailed another one with their missiles. The helicopters will say the last decisive word.
The West German tanks have no protection against such war monsters as Mi-24s are. Geht es zu Ende? Not today. The feared Mi-24s roll two ones, making it clear that the capitalists stole all their luck. Leo-1s survive, pass Last Stand test and begin their turn on the objective.
