Frank and I played an 85pt Team Yankee game as part of the store's Firestorm:Red Thunder in-store campaign.
Frank chose an "M1 Abrams Armored Combat Team" consisting of 5 combat units with a Command M1 Abrams, 2 x M1 Abrams Tank Platoons with 3 M1 Abrams each, an M113 Mech Platoon with 3xSAW teams, 3xDragon teams and 3xM113, and M901 ITV Anti-tank Platoon. There were 3 support units with a 4-strong M163 VADS AA Platoon, an M109 Field Artillery Battery with 3 x M109 and a AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter Platoon with 2 x AH-1 Cobras.
My Red Banner force was a "Soviet Tank Battalion" with 7 combat units: a Battalion HQ T72, a 3 strong T-72 unit with Mine Clearing Devices, a 5 strong T-72 unit, a medium strength BMP-2 Motor Rifle Company with 7xAK74, 6xRPG-7 and 2xPKM LMG teams and 9 x BMP-2, a BMP-2 Recon Platoon with 3 teams, a ZSU-23-4 Shilka AA Platoon with 4 teams, and a 2S1 Carnation SP Battery with 3 teams. Support was another BMP-1 Recon Platoon with 2 teams, a BMP-1 Observer, and a Mi24 Hind Assault Helicopter Company with 4 teams.
Using the the Firestorm Campaign guidelines, Frank chose to "Counter Attack" instead of conducting a "Static Defence". I then rolled for the mission which turned out to be Dust Up. Frank then won the roll to be attacker and we began to set up and deploy!
I used Spearhead to get my BMP-2 Attachment platoon deep inside the empty quarter beside my deployment zone. After Turn 2 the advancing Motor Rifle infantry have captured a VADS which bogged down trying to flee the forest it had been deployed inside...
By the grisly end all of the Abrams, including a reinforcing platoon, had been destroyed and the Soviets are on the objective. Total losses were 5 x BMP-2 and the T-72 HQ, two units total. 4-3 for the glorious Soviet liberators!
A nice report! Congrats on the win!
Great job. Nice report.
Nice table
Short, sweet, to the point, and a nice looking table… great job!
Nice report
