WARPAC TURN 1

No Reserves.

True to form the WARPAC forces advanced in force. Two T-72 bogged. Since the West Germans were Concealed and Gone to Ground WARPAC fire was completely ineffective.

NATO TURN 1

Day of the Gepards.

West Germans sprung their ambush, the Jaguar I's took aim against the T-72. The Leo II's easily traversed the woods and the Gepards focused on the BMP-2's.

FIRE TO EFFECT!

The Gepards opened fire and hit all the BMP-2's setting 5 on fire and 4 bailed! This was new to the Soviet Commander. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (or the Russian equivalent).

The Jaguars didn't do as well and bailed a single T-72.

The Leo's added to the fire yet failed to hit the BMP-2's but burned the bailed T-72 (The Formation Leader who was destroyed) and bailed the other T-72.

The attack appeared to have died at the start.

WARPAC TURN 2

Reserves: 3x T-72 & 4x Hinds with attachment

All BMP-2's remounted.

The T-72's took up firing postitions, the BMP-2's closed in on the Gepards, the Motor Infantry closed in on its objective and the Hinds took up a central position to deal with remaining units.

The BMP 2's took out a Gepard and bailed three. The T-72's managed to take out two Leo's and one Gepard. So the Hinds focused on the Jaguars and destroyed one and bailed another.

The remaining Leo stayed, the two bailed Gepards did as well but the Jaguars saw where this was heading and fled.

NATO TURN 2

A complete reversal of fortunes. The Gepards remounted but the remaining forces were weak.

In the shooting phase three more BMP-2's were destroyed and the last one bailed, but was not broken.

The last Leo attempted to scoot but failed its skill test.

WARPAC TURN 3

The Mi-24 redeployed and the T-72's prepared to finish what they had started. Even the BMP-2 remounted and added to the fire.

When the shooting was over the Leo's and Gepards were destroyed.

NATO TURN 3

The commander passed formation morale and the Marder infanty unit arrived from reserves.

The WARPAC infantry was getting too close for comfort near the HQ and suffered som losses from fire while the Marders ineffectively tried to take out the last BMP-2.

It was clear that the West Germans had lost, but if they could just take out another unit.

WARPAC TURN 4

The end was near and the WARPAC forces pushed hard.

The newly arrived Marders were almost destroyed by the T-72's and Mi-24's bringing them down to 2 infantry and 1 Marder. On the other side the Motor Rifle Company destroyed the HQ.

NATO TURN 4

Starting with no formation in good spirits and no formation commander the West Germans had lost.

WARPAC 5-2 VICTORY (THE HAD LOST THE HQ UNIT)

Hasty Attack does favor the attacker IMHO but NATO almost managed to pull of a Coup de main in the first turn.

High morale held them in the game and helped them remount, but it was the timely arrival of all the reserves that allowed the WARPAC to recover and grasp control of the game.
