- The German Major advanced with caution. WARPAC forces had unexpectedly withdrawn a large part of their forces to focus on Ruhr/Frankfurt.

His company had been deployed to secure the Amsterdam theater while the Reds were concentrating elsewhere.

They would attack in the cover of darkness and used every advantage they had. His Leo II tanks had thermal imaging, the Reds would not.

Still he felt a traitor. He should be fighting in his fatherland where the fighting was heaviest.

He just hoped that the Generals above had a good plan.

- When we started this campaign, Gandri and I had just recently got our forces. Now we had two new players and we played in Gandri's gaming room.

THE BATTLE

+++

NATO TURN 1

West Germans advanced under the cover of darkness closing the distance. They decided not to give the Soviets good targets and didn't fire.

+++

WARPAC TURN 1

No reserves, no good targets, nothing happened.

+++

NATO TURN 2

Engage, the Leo II's and other units lined up their shots. Their fire was mostly ineffective, but destroyed 3x BMP-2's

+++

WARPAC TURN 2

Again no reserves but the T-72 Rota sprung their ambush and moved into range of the Leo II's along with the infantry.

The Soviets would risk all in an attempt to deal with the Leo's.

And it worked as the guided missiles of the BMP-2's destroyed one and bailed another. The remaining fire was ineffective but the platoon broke and the Leo's were gone.

+++

NATO TURN 3

Half their offensive power was lost but the Gepards were in a good position to extract revenge.

As where the left flank forces who could fire on the infantry that had left their foxholes.

One T-72 was destroyed and another bailed. Four infantry teams were also destroyed. But the T-72 Rota remained in the game.

Soviet infantry would pay a heavy price for leaving their foxholes.

+++

WARPAC TURN 3

3x T-72 as reserves but still night.

A chance to engage the Gepards.

Shooting yielded no results.

First reserves arrive.

+++

NATO TURN 4

Still night.

Jaguars destroy a T-72 and the Gepards take out four BMP-2's.

+++

WARPAC TURN 4

Day breaks, remaining reserves arrive.

Focus is on the Gepards. HQ T-72, two remaining BMP-2's and the last T-72 along with the Hinds all focus on the Gepards. The ground units take out one and bail another. But the Hinds survive the fire of the remaining two Gepards with the loss of a single Hind. But only manage to destroy the bailed Gepard and bail the other two who bravely remain on the field.

+++

NATO TURN 5

The Jaguars destroy the last T-72 from its company and take out a couple of infantry teams.

+++

WARPAC TURN 5

The push against the Gepards continues and in the central field the other T-72 Rota approaches.

Gepards are destroyed and one Jaguar.

+++

NATO TURN 6

Frym3n concedes defeat but finishes his turn.

Milan missiles and the Jaguars destroy 2x T-72's and bail the third.

One BMP-2 is bailed.

Both companies pass their moral test.

The battle is over and the Soviets have only lost one Unit.

SOVIET VICTORY

5-2

CONCLUSION

+++

We rolled for the mission but it fitted perfectly.

Frym3n advanced his Leo's a little to soon and unsupported. Still he almost pulled it off, had it not been for a couple of lucky Spandrel Missiles.

The Hinds did sterling service once again. They had been thrown in harms way but pulled through.

At the end it was clear that they had become Kings of the field and there would only be one end.

The Soviets may have relocated their strongest forces from Amsterdam, but their rearguard is still a force to be reckoned with.

    Never fight at night Tovarishe. Retreat until dawn, then counterattack. This one turned out well.

    Nice win and report.

  • Storm Caller says:

    Nice job on report as always, you get a recommendation as always too! Can you lose one?

  • Tovarishch Vilgelm says:

    Good report! It was only on the second reading that I realized that when dawn broke, the pictures got brighter! Duh… 😉

    And of course, a great result (as usual…)!

  • fingolfen says:

    Nice job on the win! Even though it sounds like your T-72s flunked flank! 😀

    Well done Comrade Marshal! Congrats on the win!

    My falnking T-72 failed to hit at night, it was Spandrel Missiles from the front that made the kill and bail.

    Congrats on the win commended. Please get your West German commander to get in touch with high command. He needs to get the new training manual. Yes agree he should of stayed at range, and in cover, using the Leo 2 speed. Advancing like that gets you flanked. Was it side shots that got the Leo II or front with missiles? Also he should try Leo 1, much cheaper almost same gun. But well done
