This was the beginning of a great day for NATO. A mechanized company that was digging in to stop the Russian advance on the other side of the bridge in hopes of creating a bottle neck on the advance received last minute change of orders. The intelligence came in that fuel was in short supply and a large column of unsupported T-72s were making the crossing at the bridge without the Motorized rifle support. Apparently there was a large battle happing north of here with a combine British infantry company holding the advance and the East Germans needed heavy support in this key area forcing the t-72s to advance unprotected and at the hurry, The Americans arrived as the Soviets had just secured the bridge and began there crossing. Being completely mounted within the m113s and not yet spotted they took this opportunity to deploy into the outskirts of down and begin to lay cover fire for the Abrams support platoon to go on the attack. Some well place ITVs and a small command of Abrams tank were able to flank the bridge and attack through cover and across the bridge. Finally bringing about the full compliment of anti MBT misses with the cunning hit and run tactics of the tank commander we were able to take the bridge and destroy most of the T-72 column before they left the field!
Congrats on the win Commander 🙂
