50 point battle against Doug. Moat of the guys in the group had work or family stuff going on this weekend, no biggie. I managed to get quite a few of my tanks painted prior to the match.
US forces were
4 Abrams, 1 command Abrams, 1 scout squadron
Soviet forces were
3 t-72 squadrons at 3 tanks each, command tank, bmp-1 squadron
With the Soviets pushing hard we responded to an emergency alert to hold Frankfurt. While the rest of Battlegroup Wolverine was busy harassing supply convoys, our Abrams plus a much needed scout attachment were dispatched to the beleaguered city to provide defense. I set up the scout squadron as far as I could behind some buildings while my Abrams stayed in cover behind a factory ruin. Doug's 72's were stretched all along his deployment zone while keeping his bmp-1's on the main road to act as an Abrams spotter.
Turn one started off well enough after we rolled off to see who would go first and the Soviets won. They scrambled forwards with the bmps along the main road, his 72's took defensive positions with one squadron sent to reinforce his bmp-1's. Some fire was exchanged but nothing effective as my scouts had good cover.
My turn was spent getting into position and sniping the bmps with my Abrams, destroying 2 and bailing out 1. My scouts however did kill a t-72.
Turn two was still pushing with Doug's 72's trying to land hits, however while their shooting was mixed, they did manage to kill an Abrams and the 113 in the scout squad. My return fire was good and I wiped out another 72 however red was intent on staying in this fight. I ran my ITV around cover and took a pot shot, which hit and killed another bmp-1. They failed their morale check and the survivors fled the board.
Turn three saw the destruction of my itv and a bailed out command tank. While Doug inched his 72's up closer to my forces, hugging terrain and using the burning wreckage oh his dead comrades as cover.
Command tank remounted on my turn and my return fire killed another 2 tanks. This squadron was forced to make a morale check and fled the field.
Turn four had two of my Abrams burning and I failed a check. My command tank was all that was left and stayed. My return fire saw two more tanks burning and another passed check and we called it at this point. We decided it was a clear draw and commended each other on an excellent defense
AAR what a joy it was to play a game against an opposition force who used cover and broke up his 9 tanks into 3 tank squads. That was a bit hectic to deal with, but cover and range saved me good.
The scouts were very handy to have, the itv more than paid for itself before it was blown up, and I hope we get more options like that in the future
PICTURES PICTURES! 😀
I’ll come bank and rate this one you have pictures, CS. Good draw.
I’ve since started adding videos of T-72’s exploding. Or bmps really, but most of the footage is from Syria or elsewhere.

Bloody stalemate. Battles of attrition when we need to win.
Nice write up, but I think you got the wrong theater of operations in that vid.

Sounds like a fun, yet bloody, game… 😀
