August 9th 1985 5 days into WWIII
Situation: Several hours ago, a NATO armored force struck our forces near Schleiz. They destroyed a motorized rifle battalion and headed northeast. We believe this might be the armored spearhead of a flanking attack, designed to draw our reserves away from the main effort.
Mission: The mission of the 9th TNK battalion, 3rd Combined Tank Regiment is to eliminate this spearhead. You will be in the Schleiz area NLT 1430hrs 9 August 1985.
We played a tank on tank annihilation mission using 65 points. The game lasted about 35 minutes and was a fast moving short engagement.
Turn 1-We were the attackers, we had the Czech T-55's in the center, 1 T-72 company on the left, and 1 on the right with a reduce BMP company right behind our left flank tank company. We move forward, the westerners hide their tanks well, but not well enough. We get 2 shots......and miss!! The Americans move their M! tanks out of cover and destroy 2 T-72s on our right flank and manage to bail out 2 more!!
Turn 2
Our right flank company flees!!!! Cowards!!!!! Durchenko makes notes. That tanker will wish he had stayed. Durchenko's tank fires on an M1-a miss!!! the Czech tanks score 3 hits but no damage-The left flank T-72 company moves forward as well as the Czech tanks. The BMP force moves to the cover of the farm in the center. The Americans move again and knock out 2 T-55's.
Turn 3
The T-72's on our right take out 1 M1 and Durchenko's gunner after many curses and threats manages to take out another. The Germans finally make their presence known and knock out 2 more T-72's on our right and 2 more T-55's. An M1 section flees!!! leaving the Americans with just one tank (they passed their check)
Turn 4
Left flank tank company passes it's check (good man!!! promotion for him) and knock out another Leopard 2. The HQ tank and remaining M1 manage to take out 2 more T-55s, but the westerners withdraw!!!! A victory!!!!!
We move
Congratulations to the win Commander!
Nice one! A few more pictures interspersed with the report would make this a great read!
yes we faced 4 M1s 2 Leo2s and a command Leo2
What did your opponent play with? Did he have both M1’s and Leo 2’s?
