Josh Boone

So, after taking a beating earlier, Josh and Dan decided to have another go. We rolled, 1-2 Leipzig mission, 3-4 mission from the main book, 5 -6 quick mission. Josh rolls a 5..quick mission. I roll for quick mission-5 recon if force. Same table as Dan's fight. we roll for attacker-Germans-roll for corners, place our objectives and we're off.

16 August 1985 1730 Hrs.
Situation: The allies have struck at the expected location. The Americans and Germans are throwing all that remains of their meager forces and are bogged down at this time. To the North, our comrades are driving into Norway and our central forces are nearing Paris. The Germans and Americans are very vulnerable to local counter attacks and we must grab all favorable terrain to deny them any chance for a successful defense.

Mission:
The mission of the 9th Tank Battalion, 3rd Combined Tank division is to seize all favorable terrain and hold it until division can get follow on forces forward to secure them.

Spearhead for the Russians

Spearhead, suckers!!!

Turn 1:
The German tanks blitz-move and get to within 4 inches of their 1st objective. infantry dashes to the intersection Jag and Rolands move forward.

The Russian scouts dash and take the center objective-the tanks and infantry BMPs move as fast as they can and claim another objective-1 tank and 1 BMP-1 bog down. The hinds land a small company at the base of the hill. The remaining BMP-1 company dash to the other side to help reinforce the air assault company. Hail fire is accurate and hits a Roland and a Jag 1-bailing the Jag-1

It's rainin lead, hallelujah it's raining lead. Ok bad.
Ummm...night camo hinds deliver the air assault teams.

Turn 2:
The jag 1 fails it's morale-so bye bye guys. The Leo2s grab a German objective and the infantry in marders moves to the Russian objective to contest it. the Roland unit moves near the hill.

The Russian air assault teams dismount and move up the hill, claiming the German objective-I forget to move the hinds (a mistake) scouts dash and claim another objective, BMP-1 infantry dismounts and the BMPs move up and claim another objective and the BMP-1 boggs down again in a crater...driver??!!

Another objective now belongs to us.
Hey guys wait!! I dropped my wallet....Dammit Karl!!!

Turn 3:
The German tanks appear around the corner and surprise the hell out of a Hind pilot they fire and boom-helo goes up in flames. The German infantry dismounts and the Marders move up to engage the BMP-1s to contest an objective. They KIA 1 BMP and bail the other 2.

The Russian BMPs pass morale and remount, the Hind passes its morale and moves to the other end of the board. The T-72s move to engage the Leo2s and miss (what??) 2 RPG-7 shots to the flank miss as well. I cant hit a German tank today. The BMP-1s fire at the marders and get 2 hits and 2 kills. At this point he Germans have lost 2 units, and have nothing to contest 4 objectives held by the Russians-the Germans withdraw and the Russians have the day.

The Marders get turned into scrap.
Oopss forgot to take off

A good, short game. Josh had Dan help him and seemed hesitant and didn't want to move too fast. But once again, I could not hit the damned Leo2s. Well everyone left and time to finish those last 2 beers.....cheers!!!

Nice report, and I particularily like the leaf-less trees! Pity about the WP win, someone need to instruct the NATO commander on how to cover objectives.

So it says helps must land in the turn they intend to drop off infantry which we did. According to the example, once the infantry deploy, they are free to take off and strafe the enemy as the example states. I did forget to take off which cost me one in the Germans round, but managed to move to the other side of the board as it states a hind has unlimited movement. So by all means let me know if I am misreading something. As far as the German opponent…well we all can’t go undefeated, nor spend months studying plastic soldier tactics. Thanks. You are right about attachments not being able to claim objectives though. Thanks for pointing that out.

You may want to read the rules again! You missed a few about objectives and who can hold them, And helocapters operations all together.

Besid that and a German player that has no understand of how to use is force it was a great report
