Once more into the breach dear friends!

Prologue

“Colonel Attwood, it is good to see you back!” Lt. Tran exclaimed.
“Yeah, that Hasselhoff was a little too focused on the town of Ritter Reiter. You know it means, “Knight Rider” in English, right?” Lt. Tran looked at him blankly. Attwood continued, “He resigned his commission and said something about trying out for a part in an upcoming Hollywood TV series called… you guessed it, Knight Rider. Strange coincidence, isn’t it lieutenant?” Tran just nodded his head.

“Let’s get down to business. You had a rough patch of luck in the last fight. This time intel is saying that the Russians are weaker in this area due to not having air cover or ground support. Good news for us! Your job is to stop the Russians with everything you’ve got. Clear?” “Yes sir.” was all Tran could reply thinking how everybody wants to rule the world.

We interrupt this report for a piece of the Berlin Wall!

This is an actual piece of the Berlin Wall given to me by a colleague years ago. I added it to each of my reports for remembering..

Turn 1 Russia
The two T-72 tank platoons attempted to blitz move. The gray platoon was successful with the exception of one tank which failed its cross check to get out of the woods. The green platoon did not make it for the blitz move but they all did move out of the woods. All the tanks fired on the M1 platoon in the woods in front of them hitting them with two hits each. Scratch one M1 platoon! Meanwhile the commander was bogged down trying to get out of the woods.

A view to a kill.

Turn 1 USA
American cobras moved behind the woods on the sides of the Russian tank units. The remaining M1 platoon fired scoring four hits total on the grey tanks and one bailed the three were destroyed the last one failed its morale roll. The cobras fired their Vulcan cannons at the green tanks hitting all the tanks but failed to destroy.

Payback is always brutal!

Turn 2 Russia
The gray company is gone. It is now up to the green company to go and smash the Americans. They decided to do a cross country dash, threatening Lieutenant Tran's tank. They cannot fire because they fired on the cobras last turn with their AA machine guns. The Soviet battalion commander stayed where he was and fired on the cobras to no effect.

Moving forward!

Turn 2 USA
Tran turned his tank to face the other tanks the other platoon failed a blitz move but got out of the woods in time to face the American tanks. Tran completely messed with his two shots and the American platoon bailed out the commander’s tank. The helicopters turned and fired their Vulcans hitting everyone and destroyed one tank. Not enough for the green tank company to make a morale check.

Come on! Take me on!

Turn 3 Russia
My alter ego rolled a dice to determine if the Russians would fire on the formation commander or the last platoon of M1 tanks. The Russians decided to go after the platoon of M1 tanks. They did tactical moves and fired on the M1 platoon destroying one forcing a morale check on that platoon. The platoon past their morale check! The Soviet commander fired on the cobras hitting them but no damage done.

The Russian CO kept firing at the Cobras...what a mistake that was!

Turn 3 USA
The two remaining tanks moved to get into a better firing position. The cobras fired and they bailed out the Russian commander’s tank. The two remaining American tanks fired hitting the three tanks destroying the commander’s tank and one other tank there is one Russian tank left and they passed morale!

Showdown!

Turn 4 Russia
According to the rulebook a Sole Survivor must roll a morale check at the start of the turn before formation tests are made. He rolled a “1” and thus the game ends!

US wins 5-2

’80s. Walk in the park. 1960-63, now that’s a really bad time. 2nd Berlin Crisis, Cuba, and the beginning of Vietnam. Plus I had to walk up hill in snow both ways

Let’s hope the Soviets don’t use nuclear weapons and we have to play the “Dancing with tears in my eyes” video 🙁 …

So if we were to play Duran Duran videos for the rest of the campaign, is NATO going to get ALL of Germany AND Amsterdam?!

We have a weapon! I must tell the NATO CiC!

As far as I am concerned the 80s had better music compared to the stuff being pumped out on the airwaves these days!

+1 on the MTV flashbacks! I remember when it was 24 hour music videos…
