This was my second game yesterday. I played against K_U_G. He played two west german formations. He played wit 4 Leopard2, 4 Leopard1, 3 Jaguar, a Panzergrenadier platoon, 4 BO-105, 4 Gepards and two units Luchs. We diced the mission and it was Hasty attack. So i had to put 7 units in reserve, K_U_G had to put 4 units in reserve.
The west german commander had a hard choice, which units he should place in reserve. He placed the Gepards, the Panzergrenadiere and the Luchs units in reserve. The Jaguars went in ambush, the rest was placed on the table.
I had a BMP-2 company in middle strenght, 4 Gophers and 18 T72M for deployment. I deployed all over the table length with the infantry in the middle. I placed my objectived on the flanks and removed the one on my left flank. The third objective was in the center. I pushed forward with the T72 and remained stationary with the BMPs. I shot down two BOs with combined fire of Gophers and BMPs.
I had to take some moral and had not such good dices. The surviving tanks on my righjt flank moved forward to the Leo2 and were in position for side shoots. I killed two and bailed one. But K_U_G defended german soil and was highly motivated.
But not on the other side. Here i killed two Leopard 1. The unit passed unit motivation. But as it was the only unit on table and not in good spirit, he had to test formation moral and he diced a 1. So the Aufklärungskompanie was history and the Luchs and Gepards won´t take part of this game.
My infantry was near the objective in the center. If they had passed ther blitz move with formation commander on 3+, the would be in position to grab the objective next turn. So it would last a turn longer...
K_U_G moved the Leo2 in direction to the center objective. The three Jaguars were only able to shoot at the T72M a little bit away. But together with the Leo2 they destroyed this force. The last survivor missed moral. The BOs were shot down by the Gophers.
Four BMPs remained stationary to shoot at the Jaguars, the other 5 were on the way to the center objective. The infantry moved on the objective. 4 T72 moved in defensive fire position. This was my third turn so my first turn arrived. I had no luck in the other two turns. So a unit of three T72M dashed to the objective on my right flank- buit out of sight to the Jaguars.
One Rpg-7 shot at a Leo2 but scored no hit.
K_U_G was not able to penetrate the infanty position. He received his first reserve unit. He threw a four and was able to place them in center. The Infantry blitzed on table, the Marders missed their Blitz-check. The two milan teams killed my formation commander. He scored only seven hits on the infantry, what was not enough for pin down. He started a desperate attack with one Panzer grenadier, which was killed by defensive fire.
So with no contesting enemy team on the center objective i started und ended turn 4 - win.
So a 4:3 for the NVA. Again a win for the overwhelming MSU-forces. My group asked me to take bigger units, otherwise they hardly see a chance. Currently i wait for a box hails and and a box Spandrels, which should make the list even stronger. Hopefully next week with more painted units and more T72. Again my friend with his T72 was unavailable...
