Seize the Bridge

50 POINTS
Warsaw Pact

VS United States
Boonwaggle
The East German forces staring at the crossing they must capture.

Sir Boonwaggle and I decided to try the new quick missions and we rolled for Seize the Bridge.

The glorious tanks of the Volksarmee consisted of 11 T-72s, a supporting company Mot-schutzen kompanie in BMP-1s and smaller support units.

The Imperialist force contained a much smaller number of inferior tanks and a small infantry platoon. The respective air forces deemed this skirmish to small to send support. So neither side could rely on airpower.

Turn 1:
The DDR forces move up en masse and get ready to take shots at the Abrams. The BMP-1s and the BRDMs decide to dash up the other flank and attempt to cross the river. A lucky volley sees one American tank blown to bits but his comrade sticks around. The return fire destroys two T-72's but the brave commander soldiers on.

First blood goes to the glorious soldier of the DDR!
BMP's and BRDM's use their amphibious nature to sneak around the flank of the capitalists

Turn 2:
Reserves arrive in the form of 3 T-72's this leaves the American tanks facing enemies on two sides. Captain Boonwaggle decides to fire at the tanks in front of him and destroys some T-72's. However, he isn't able to put enough pressure to force a morale test on a platoon. A failed blitz move also leaves a second Abrams unit with its rear facing the enemy.

The noose tightens

Turn 3:
More East German support comes on in the form of Spandrels. All DDR forces move forward and take more shots at the enemy. This turn is less successful but still sees the destruction of one more Abrams. The American player gambles and rushes his APC and Anti-Air to destroy some of the BMPs but isn't able to destroy more than one.

Safely across the river and ready to flank the enemy

Turn 4:
The DDR commanders sensing victory push everyone forward and dismount the infantry. More volleys from the T-72's and Spandrels destroy the last two Abrams. The BMP's and infantry thin out the Anti-Air and APC's. Sensing defeat Captain Boonwaggle orders his mean to charge the T-72's nearest the bridge. They successfully avoid MG fire but their rockets aren't able to penetrate superior socialist tanks. With only infantry and a handful of APC's left the Americans flee the field leave the East Germans in control of the Bridge.

Post Match-
At 50 points it was a fun quick game. It is tough for the Americans to fit in a ton of tanks and the sheer amount of hulls simply overwhelmed Captain Boonwaggle. It was a nice change of pace to able to bounce tank shots with an East German T-72. May the glorious revolution continue to spread across Europe!
