First Platoon is destroyed. The Germans Blitz down the hill and ride wildly firing into flanks of surprised tank crews. A miscalculation, to determinate outcome of battle. Two vehicles go up in flames and commanding crew refuses to remount, and then leaves battlefield, leaving only company commander alone. The advancing infantry is now without tank cover, and forced to redirect their effort.
With our tanks taken by surprised and knocked out, infantry has to take the push on. They destroy several vehicles. But if air support fails us, we are in serious troubles. instead of advancing on objective, second platoon is forced to secure flank, firing RPGs at Leopards Is.
We call air strike and it comes, but fails to destroy tanks. It takes couple of minutes and another flight to destroy one, but the last tank keeps fighting on. This hampers effort even further, with second platoon unable to reach own flank coming on the other bank of river.
The situation is dire. One platoon filled with wounded and dead. Four tanks lost. All BMPs lost. Infantry moves forward, able to make a big push on APCs ahead. If we get rid of them, we still have, though low, chances to reach objective. But our men suddenly miss all RPGs shots and manage only one bail. Every team going into assault is pinned down and forced back, least no casualties. It is time to preserve lifes and call retreat.
Great table. i like the Su22 (I think they are).
Very nice table and nicely painted armied 🙂
Unlucky on the loss, but a decent report, if a bit short.
Awesome table – bummer on the loss…
Great table
Nice report. Push comrade, the Motherland can make more men.
Lists are in my (linked) report of the battle.
would be interesting to see the list, Tovarische. Otherwise good (if unfortunate) report
